Hello there! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sarah and I am a first-year medical student or MSI. When I am not studying, I enjoy baking scones, doing needlepoint, and drinking a nice cup of tea.
One of my favorite small details of medicine is the traditional white coat and professional dress. Sure, scrubs are functional, comfortable, and necessary, but there is something special about the perfect outfit worn under the white coat.
One of the first things we learn as medical students is the responsibility that comes with wearing the white coat. It is a symbol of authority, respect, and knowledge. It marks the clinical practice of connecting with patients to treat them as best we can.
While the white coat marks us as physicians (or physicians-in-training), the fun part is what you wear underneath. The nature of the job requires that it be comfortable and functional, but the style is completely up to the individual. The possibilities are endless.
